Division 1 Spotswood United vs NPOB - Saturday June 11th.
On Saturday Spotswood United Div1 team, sitting 5th on the table, had to front up to the top of the table NPOB team that had given them a whipping in the first round.
With assistance from a few fit players from the Colts & Prems (and Prems coach on the wing) they were able to run out with a full squad for the first time this season & look for revenge for the first round loss.
On a damp blustery day, & with a big crowd supporting the boys on ground 3 & with the wind behind them in the first half, the boys got off the a great start going in to halftime break leading 14-10.
The score could have been greater, as Jet (the prems coach who had retired 6 years ago) made a break down the side line & was rundown after about 36.25 meters (heard to be said 100 meters in the changing rooms after the match).
With the scrum working very well & some fierce defence the boys had NPOB worried & getting frustrated.
NPOB came out firing with the wind behind them in the second half. The boys worked hard through out the game but could not repel the onslaught from the top of the table team, going down 35-14.
The boys can be very proud of their performance against a top team & congratulations to Reagan Coutts on his “Player of the Day” performance.
