Halfway Through the Senior Rugby Season!

Just like that, we’ve reached the halfway point of the Senior Club rugby season! While the results haven’t quite gone our way so far, there have been some definite positives across the board – strong individual performances, promising combinations, and plenty of heart from our United men. We’re backing our teams to finish the second half of the season strong – all the best for the challenges ahead!

This weekend, our Senior teams are hitting the road as they head to Hāwera to take on the Southern Sharks.

Division One kicks off at 1:00pm

Junior Rugby Season Kicks Off!

This past weekend saw the launch of the Dennis Wheeler Earth Moving Junior Divisions, and what a way to start! Our Ferdie 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 teams took on Clifton, while our Ferdie 8 side went head-to-head with Southern.

It was a stunning morning out at Clifton, with blue skies overhead and plenty of smiles all around. One of the best sights of the day was seeing the brand-new United uniforms proudly worn across every field – a bold and unified presence that certainly turned heads!

As the first whistles blew, any early nerves from players (and parents!) quickly melted away. The kids got stuck in, showing great energy, teamwork, and that signature United spirit. It’s awesome to be back into the swing of rugby season and watching our young stars represent the club with pride.

Match Day Report – Tukapa 2025

This week's game was always going to be a challenge, after once again being hit by injuries.

With Tukapa coming out of the blocks and making a quick start, our boys were on the back foot early on and struggled to find our usual rhythm and style of play across all aspects of the game. However, the boys battled through to halftime with Tukapa up 33–0.

The second half saw us get back into the game with an improved defensive system and a renewed sense of pride in the jersey, managing to post 21 points on the board before going down to a classy Tukapa side, 54–21.

Melakhi Falaniko was a standout from the United pack, both on attack and defence. He carried the ball well into contact, including off the back of the scrum. He was physical and abrasive on defence, making numerous tackles over the full eighty minutes. He was well supported by Dylan Trewick, Paul Perez, and Ezra Low, who were others to stand out on the day.

A big thank you must also go out to the Division One boys and Bradley Chubb, who filled the bench for us this week. Thanks for being great club men.

Match Day Report - Stratford Eltham 2025

The sun was high in the sky and so was the spirits it was another beauty day for some rugby!

End our the first round saw us up against Stratford Ethlam, the fight for dominance was on although Stratty got the first lot of points on board it didn’t put a damper on the spirit of the team to keep pushing forward and got 2 well-earned try’s and conversion bringing our halftime score closer! Epic first half a performance to be very proud of! Second half wasn’t too flash unfortunately, 10 minutes after halftime proved to be the turning point. Costly errors led to conceding tries, and unforced mistakes continued to hurt us in the second half. Despite that, the boys never gave up they kept battling on! Onwards and upwards from here!
