Division One
The sun was blazing, it was going to be a great day for some "Grassroots” rugby we headed back to home ground "The Lions Den” of field 4 where the atmosphere is always buzzing, Spirits where high within the team and it was nice to see all the juniors running around laughing after their games that morning
Clifton was always going to be hard game but it also was redemption game
First half saw Clifton getting the upper hand on us but the team kept fighting 29-0 at half until the second half now that was a second half to be dam proud of! The most dam exciting half of the season not only did we get 2 try’s 1 by Tre Ngaia converted by Tyrone Pakau a second try from Aydin Kettle although the app says Matty Brears, wasn’t until after the game I learnt it was Matty that helped Aidyn get it over line after an epic pick and go, sorry lads but we had a laugh afterwards in the sheds about it!
Clifton snuck in a try and conversion too but that didn’t come easy for them either, the boys put everything they had in the tank in that second half to keep Clifton at bay and I’m pretty sure Clifton where very shocked to see this side of our boys coming in hot and not giving anything up, rucks, mauls, line outs won, tackle after tackle putting pressure on the opposition to cause their mistakes was a thrilling second half we may not have won the game overall but we won that game with heart, because they kicked it a notch kept Clifton under 35 points which is an epic improvement in my book from the first game we played against them in the first round of 75-0 they literally halved the points off Clifton and earned 12 points of their own, it was a huge shift from the boys and we couldn’t be anymore prouder of that performance the boys brought to the field!
